Our Story

Keeping the golden age of Konpa alive.

Retro-Musical Band (R.M.B) was founded in 2010 by Wilbert Pierre. After decades as a bassist for legendary bands, Wilbert became concerned that the Konpa rhythm he helped shape was losing its identity among the new generation. He created R.M.B. to preserve the classic Konpa sound and give younger audiences something to look up to.

Today, R.M.B. is a full 12-piece band. Saxophone and trombone can be heard in most of their songs. Their repertoire focuses on classic songs that bring back memories: the music you grew up hearing but rarely hear anymore. Their high-energy performances capture the carefree spirit of bygone eras, with a message of joy, love, and self-expression. R.M.B. is a nostalgic fusion of classic sounds and modern energy, and they perform at many private events, often dressed in period costumes.

Wilbert Pierre

Founder & Bassist

A veteran bassist who spent decades with legendary bands before founding R.M.B. to protect the identity of Konpa.

Joseph Savius (Chinois)

Band Leader & Cowbell

The band's leader and the one who handles bookings. His cowbell, paired with the floor tom, forms a unique percussion unit and serves as the band's metronome.

The Voices

Rubens

Vocalist

The center-stage voice who has carried the band for the past 10 years. He'll sing anything you throw at him, which makes him indispensable.

Jean Nicaisse

Vocalist

The band's backbone. He handles the very old-school songs, the ones only your grandparents might remember.

Harold Joseph

Vocalist

A founder of the legendary Haitian band System Band. He brings the soul to R.M.B. A true professional and a legend, he never gets it wrong: the band's not-so-secret weapon.

Dadou

Vocalist

The newest voice in the band. Young and hungry for the stage, with a voice that grabs your attention and a presence that makes you stop and listen. 🎶

The Rhythm Section

Kiko

Drums

A disciplined drummer who holds the band together with precision. He has a sharp ear for anything missing in the arrangement, keeps a close eye on the newer musicians, and gives honest feedback to keep every performance tight.

Bello Azahares

Congas

A Konpa veteran with a finely tuned ear. Bello has performed with many of the genre's legends, and his deep experience anchors the band's groove.

Ivon Celestin

Saxophone & Musical Maestro

Well known in Haitian Konpa, with a career that includes legendary bands such as Skah Shah and Scorpio. He keeps the band's standards high and knows when every note lands right.

Daniel Saintal

Trombone

Played with the legendary Gemini All Stars alongside Ti Manno, one of Haiti's greatest, as well as Skah Shah and many other iconic Haitian bands.

Reginald Duvillage

Lead Guitar

The youngest member of the band. He brings a modern taste with a bluesy touch that keeps the sound authentic.

Christo

Second Guitar

A legendary Haitian guitarist and former lead guitarist of Digital Express. He also plays in churches on weekends and teaches music.
